Default Kohler Command Sputters

I just picked up a pristine XT3. One owner and it has a new engine with 150 hours on it. It is a 2015 but looks like it is brand new. Here is the problem; it starts instantly with barely touching the key. Settles in to a good idle, so far so good. Then after about 15 minutes it sputters as if the choke is on. If the blades are running it will die. But it will start again instantly, run fine for a few minutes then sputter again. If you turn the blades off when it starts sputtering it will recover and carry on. The previous owner has impeccable records on it. The engine and compartment is so clean it all appears to be straight from the factory. Thoughts? Thanks!!!

First, welcome to OCC!

This sounds like a fuel delivery issue. Before digging into everything, check the gas cap and see if it's venting properly. If a cap doesn't vent like its supposed to fuel won't flow very well.

If that isn't the issue or doesn't help, next thing to check is the fuel outlet on the tank. Make sure there's no gunk blocking the exit.

And if that still doesn't help, check over the fuel lines and make sure they are all clear, and replace the fuel filter if you haven't already.

Hope this helps!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
