Default Picture of the Week: November 1st, 2015

This weeks submission is sent to us by local member Sam McCleary aka Sam Mac from Galax, VA. Sam comments "Guys this is my O. It was born March of 62. All in all it was in very good condition when I got it. It needed a little TLC but it was a pretty easy freshen, new axle seals, wiring harness, rattle can paint job and decals. The deck was another story. What’s on it is the combined best parts of 3 decks along with new bearings and belts. It’s completely functional as it sits now. I have no plans of ever actually cutting grass with it. Only reason I have it is kind of a childhood memory thing, my late uncle bought one when I was a kid. Guess it’s what got me into this Cub thing." Thanks for the submission Sam!!!

Looks very good Sam. Can I ask what the white cable is on the right side going up behind the generator? Is that your ground?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
