That's exactly what I have, a bearing in a two bolt housing that allows for some shaft misalignment. Was thinking about drilling and tapping the boss on the back of the forward axle, then shimming the pillow block bearing as needed. Only down side is I need to disconnect the shaft at the forward hydro to put a new belt on, so that's one more thing to deal with.

I am using a pillow block as well. I wanted to bolt it to the top of the front hydro but the pillow block was a little to tall. I'm using a heavy cast one that is self aligning. I ended up just bolting it to a piece of angle and welding the angle to the frame. I am only planning on using a single belt so I am concerned about that now. Have you sorted out why the belt shred happened? The issue with the rear hydro did you find out why it wasn't driving? (maybe I missed something in the posts)

The front rear was already tapped with bolts in it but the pillow block was too tall. I used 6 inch pulleys to have a little more surface area for the belt. Using a B belt as well.

Due to geometry of my engine/rear axle, my lower pulley is directly over the hydro's filter, so my pulley is limited to 3.5 inch dia. With your larger pulleys and a fatter belt, you may be fine. My belt shredded (I think) when the hydro seized momentarily.
