Default Need help identifying this Cub Cadet

I’ve had this cub cadet since I was 10 years old never knew much about it but I would like to restore it. I’m having trouble finding out what year it is and also haven’t seen very many that are identical.

First, welcome to OCC..........

The model you have is the first one, known as the Original. They were built from Oct 1960 to Aug 1963.

Using the Serial Number of "55870", makes it made in Apr 1963.

Nice tractor to restore.

Thank you! I appreciate that. I haven’t seen very many so far with dual rears and 2 control sticks. Have you seen this before?

Dual rear wheels is not that common but one does see it occasionally.

Dual Implement Lifts I have only seen once before. Rare feature.

I never saw that before. Was it actually a factory option, or something experimental? I assume the inner one is for front and middle attachments, and the outer one for the rear.

Inner/Outer????
Creeper gear
Used for snow thrower and tiller operations
Other than that, just a conversation piece kind of like a rear PTO

Dave, look at the pic, it has 2 lift handles. I never seen one like that either. That's gotta be a PO custom mod. Pretty cool idea.

Yeah, I see it now. Kinda hard to make sense out of upside down pic's
I just assumed he meant creeper gear handle.

I've seen setups like that before.
Not OEM

Rotated pictures for normal viewing. Better to see this tractor's features.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
