One thing to note: When I added the 7 qts. of Hy-Tran to the transaxle, the process went very smoothly because I filled it with the relief valves removed. This allowed the unit to vent, and the fluid went it quickly and without that annoying burping, which is usually messy and wasteful. I have a small plastic funnel that fits in the filler tube snugly, so that helped too. Something to remember when you are servicing these. I have done 4 tractors previously, and this would have saved frustration and time.

Ugly front wheels sanded, primed and then painted using Rustoleum Almond. Came out great. Then I repacked the wheel bearings. Surprisingly they were not worn out, but they were dry.

That almond is a good find. I need to do the same for the fronts on the 984 and 782.

I agree. It's dirt cheap as compared to the Cub Cadet branded paints, and easier to locate. Since my machines are always garaged and kept cleaned, not sure of the durability, but Rustoleum has typically been good.

Your 682 turned out nice.
In case you didn't know, Ace Hardware carries their Ace Rust Stop brand in Almond Gloss. It usually comes in the bigger 15oz cans for the same price as Rustoleum's 12oz. I've used it with great success. Good luck on finding a mule drive and deck!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
