Hey Doc, is this bend normal?
I'm trying to sort out my 1650's hydrostatic control adjustments, and I noticed that this connecting rod/stud seems to be imprecisely bent. Is it supposed to be bent? Parts diagram isn't helpful since it just shows the ends and not the whole thing. As it sits, the tractor is in neutral about 1/4 to 1/2 inch below the neutral symbol on the control panel. When I put the controller all the way down to reverse, I barely get any reverse. When I put the controller all the way up, I max out before the halfway mark on the control panel. If the connecting stud is normal, then I need to do the cam adjustment with a brass pin and hammer?

I forgot to mention, that the rear flex disc joint failed a few years ago. I'm thinking the driveshaft might have somehow damaged the rod.

That was definitely the problem. I got the rod straightened out and now I have full forward and reverse speed with neutral right where it should be. Now I just have to adjust the shifter tension/friction. I think it takes about 10-12 pounds of pressure to move the lever. Should be around 7.
