Wind Turbine generators
A whole of life study was done on Wind Turbine generators by a University in Australia and they computed that the amount of Electricity needed from go (manufacturing) to whoa (pull down) was more than the Generator would produce in its active life
Also the Turbine blades are fit for nothing at the end of life so they are burying them I am just scratching my head trying to work out any perceived benefit outside of someone having a nice little earner Oz

There are 300+ around me. To the tune of $3M a piece. "They" claim that the USA needs more energy yet on windy days, I have seen these wind turbines turned off, sitting idle, and producing nothing. The only benefit I have seen in the last three years, these turbines are really good as indicating wind direction.

The west has thousands of them. They have destroyed a lot of beautiful
country and no can really quantify their value. I guess they make people feel warm and fuzzy. Ken |

They're also good for cleaning up the bird population.

I figure that if enough are built all over the planet, the combined resistance they provide to the atmosphere, like speed brakes on a jet aircraft, will cause the Earth's rotation
to slow to the point that electricity will be a minor concern. |

I dunno, I would think it would speed up the rotation of the earth!!
Seems as though it has gotten much more windy here as of late and the days are growing shorter since 20 of the damn things got up and running late last year!!! Some of them are Chinese to boot! Sounds like a conspiracy to me!! |

Four of the top 10 wind turbine manufacturers in the world are German-based (Siemens, Enercon, Nordex, and Senvion).
And in anticipation of natural gas shortages this winter, Germany is restarting their coal-fired power plants. Does that sound like they have a lot of confidence in wind power?? |

Plus, if it gets too windy, they turn them off (feather the blades)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
