Need size of air cleaner screws, help?
I lost the 4 screws that install the air cleaner assembly to the carburetor on my IH Cub Cadet 70 Kohler K161 7hp. If anyone knows the exact size I would like to know it. I’ll need to buy new ones from Ace Hardware or it would be cool if I could find the real Cub Cadet Kohler ones on eBay or something… Any help is appreciated.

Your picture is too dark for clarification.
The two Air Cleaner screws are: Screw, 8-32 X 3/8 Rd Hd Mach w/Lock Washers.

Ok, thanks, so these will work? Obviously I wouldn’t buy 100, I would try to get individuals from Ace or Menards.

When you go to Ace Hardware to get the two little screws and lock washers like Roland said, get two extra. Put them in a container of your choice, labeled in with your Cub stuff. Don't ask how I know this.

You don't need any screws for the side holes.

Ironman, you must have a slightly different air cleaner holder than me. Here’s a pic of mine. It mounts using a bracket you don’t have and 2 screws.

The picture of the Air Cleaner base does NOT appear to be Cub Cadet.

These pictures are of the screw that goes into the throat of the carb. As you can see, they are 10NF32 thread by 3/8"long. There are three of them. You do not want the two positioned at 3 and 9 o'clock to be too long or they will jam the choke shaft.
Of the three carbs that I currently have access to, none of them have threads in the side holes so I cant help you there. Take the carb to a hardware store and ask a clerk to fit it up. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
