Default Rear Axle Brace

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but I have an 1862 that I recently installed the Xtreme GT rear axle brace (cc-99-003) on. Everything installed easily and fits great! I was wondering if the single bolt on top and bottom of the front of the brace could still allow forward and backward movement of the rear? Or is it’s main purpose to eliminate frame twist? I would think it should have 2 bolts on top and bottom or be welded together. I’m plowing snow with my cub so I’m just making sure this rear is indestructible.

The 4 bolts that go through the axle tubes and attach the rear to the frame keep it from moving fore and aft. The tractor doesn't have enough traction or power to cause any damage as it is now.

Thanks for your quick responses! And thanks for designing this brace, Sam! Does the brace effectively “bulletproof” the aluminum rear ends? Does this make it as robust as the earlier cast iron rears? Have you seen any failures with the brace on? I’m plowing snow with 75 lbs wheel weights and 200 lbs of suitcase weights on a rear weight bracket.

Relax, nothing you can do will hurt the case short of putting a huge amount of weight on the tractor and that would break the axle tubes. Go plow snow and be happy.

Load the rear tires, put some wheel weight's on it and some good tire chains and have fun. Me I hate plowing snow.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
