Need repair advise

I have one in similar shape. My plan is to cut out a big rectangle and install a LED light bar. Make it a true Cyclops

If you absolutely want it back stock, here's what i would do:

• Clean all the old glue off.
• Square off the plastic stubs to give a flat surface parallel to the front lens.
• Make aluminum standoffs a little longer than needed. Thread them for long machine screws and attach to the square steel bracket.
• Fit the assembly by grinding each aluminum standoff until the mounting bracket is parallel and the correct distance from the plastic. Make it a little "close" so you can adjust the amount of clamp with the screws. You can also use weatherstrip to cushion the sealed beam.
  If possible use short lengths of aluminum tubing that will slip over the plastic stubs and your standoffs to reinforce the joint.
  Use JB Weld plastic bond to attach the stnadoffs. Install the tubes first, coat mating surfaces and inside of tubes liberally with the epoxy. Coat the standoffs also, then press into the tubes.
  Let it set up overnight, then assemble. You can finetune the standoff height with a dremel to shorten the standoffs if needed.

It's a bit finicky but should work.

Last week I was talking with my gunsmith, and in the back of my mind pillar bedding, a wood stock came into mine, which is very similar to what you described. As soon as I get a few hours of meantime, I will take your advice.
