In your first picture in post 8 it looks like the nut on the throttle cable is bent and hitting the blower housing.

I agree with twoton the cable should be on the outside of the arm . and your motor mounts must be totally gone also the cables are supposed to come through the oval hole in the fire wall . but the engine is way too low

That’s odd. The engine seems very well secure in place. Doesn’t rock back or anything. And no driveshaft wobble either. I may recall someone doing a modification a while back to it...

Is that at idle, or part speed?

I believe it was at idle.
If you have not already messed with the carb to gov lever, don't
Chances are it's OK
Mine in the picks is at about 2.9" C/L to C/L
Somewhere in the manuals I have is a chart that spec' that length for different engine applications but I'll be darned if I can find it.

Yeah I’ve noticed something else too. A while back I got a photo of where my old throttle cable was on the clamp. I compare that to now and something has changed. I think I may need to move the position of the throttle cable on this clamp thing. It has moved.

I have messed with it. What is a good setting to screw it to?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
