Default QA 42A on a 70

I got a QA 42A snow thrower and thought it would fit on my 70, but the manual says I need an adapter package. My cub has two bolts holding on the mule drive pulley bracket, and the QA 42A only has one bolt. Anyone know where I can get the adapter or have one made? I have included a picture of the snow thrower bracket that only has one set of holes, and a picture of my cub with two bolts for the mule drive pulleys.

I also need the lift arm and rod, the chute rod and rod guide, and maybe a replacement blade.

Thanks,

We tried that one day and a QA 42A will not fit on a 70 without making modifications to the hanger. The adapting package is for 1x4 1x5 and up to serial #400,000
Also, a 7hp is not enough to drive it.

I conquer on 7-8 hp. being anemic .
I find an 18Hp magnum twin adequate and if the snow is heavy & deep you don't get in a hurry, and a magnum, is known for it's torque.
Now if you are just displaying your tractor with Qa at shows/parades it will look purdy mounted.
I'd hate to see you waste work/money/time and be disappointed in it's ability to work effectively.

Thanks for your replies. The tractor has an 8 horse K181, so I'll likely sell it since I wanted to use it and not just display it. I thought of putting in a 10 horse 301, but that likely wouldn't run it well either, and I really don't want to put in a lot of time modifying the hanger only to have it not perform well.

I agree as well. I've got a 38" mower on my 7HP 73 and in 2nd gear WOT hauling my fat butt around it ain't got enough stones to mow and multitask. I'm on the hunt for a 10 horse now.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
