After a degreasing and power washing I was able to examine things. Had little hytran in the rear end. While adding fluid it started to drip on front side of pump. Found out oil filter was leaking. Was able to turn the filter 3/4 of a turn with my hand. Based on the oily grim everywhere I suspect filter might have been leaking for some time.

At this point I was getting concerned that the pump may be bad. 5 minutes searching for parts was able to rig up attachment to my 1/2 in drill. Couple hose clamps, deep socket, rubber hose and a socket drill driver.

Ran drill for couple minutes. Put drive into forward and wheels moved. Put drive into reverse, wheels moved backward. Great ! Pump seems to work. Tried hydro lift. Nothing except leaking line. Tightened fitting and leak gone but no movement in lift. Tried steering. Nothing! Kept trying hoping that it would start working. Still nothing. Then noticed the steering ram moved slightly but wheels never turned. Checked out wheels and it appears front steering is locked up. Disconnected steering ram and retested. Ram moves great. Front axle needs some work to free up steering but power steering works and no leaks.

Have to disconnect lift cylinder from mount to see if cylinder will move. Still more grim to remove.

Also seal on rear axle is leaking. More testing to come.

Went to check fluid condition. Carefully pulled drain plug and water came out. I know that washing the grim off can get some water in but I suspect this is a little more than from a single washing.

I drained the fluid and added some fresh fluid. Ran the transmission for a while with my drill. Today's plans is to drain again and change the filter.

Resurrecting this thread.
Here's how I mounted the pump on my wide frame.
When all the bugs are worked out the unit will be mounted in a 149 w/DanCo loader with out the OEM hydraulic lift.

Next issue is getting the correct front height back up where it should be. Using the steer steer axle and early WF knuckles that have been modified, puts the front end 1.5" too low.
With the S/S axle knuckles, it is 2 inches too high and the bucket will not sit level on the ground.

Have you tried the early Cyclops knuckles? They are about 2" shorter than the later tall super steer knuckles. Sounds like you tried using the IH knuckles?

Yep... the early Cyclops spindles will get you back down to the original ride height.. mine came off of an early 1862

I have no idea as to what Cub the axle and other parts came from as all the sheet metal that held any info such as make/model etc. are long gone.

And yes, the knuckles I have from it are the long ones so must be a later model.
The ends of the axle where the knuckles go through are 1/2" shorter (3-1/2") than the OEM 149 (4") axle.

Looks like I need to go searching for 703-1749/48 then.
