I guess thats good news for me the because mine have plenty of hours on them. My thought is when doing a rebuild loctite the plug anyway just for added security.

Nothing wrong with loctite, and look up the service bullitin and pin it.
Do leave enough pin sticking out so vice grips can remove it if needed in the future, otherwise, --well we won't go there.
Don't loose any sleep worring about the ones that are staying put now.
Unless you are the type to look up for incoming meteorites

Like the others I would re work the M18. Love the one I have in the 1862.
I would add, if you buy a gasket set and it has gaskets for the jugs to block.
Don't use em, you will regret it when you go to check your valve stem
clearances and they are quite large. Then you get to take it all apart and
do it by the book which says use sealer only. I once heard about a guy who
did that. I never worried to much about the gas usage on my
yard equipment, that could change by next summer.

I have an 1811 that is complete but does not run. I heard it run on fuel squirted into the carb when I bought it. I was thinking of sliding in a 300 hour Command CH18S engine that I have had on the shelf for quite some time but have since bought a 1210 and I think I will put that spare Command in the 1210 one day, if I find someone that wants that Magnum 12 shaker.

I need to rebuild the 1811. I think it has just over 1000 hours. I had another 1811, with about 1200 hours, that I sold to a friend years ago, and it is still going strong. It all comes down to maintenance.

I think if the Magnum is rebuildable, you should keep it going.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
