Hey guys, I tried this and it works great in a given area, I use it around my garage and it keep the higher scrubgrass cut low without throwing all of the limestone like blades would. I did it on a tri-blade 38'' cut deck on my 1210. I don't know if it is ready to mow a golf course with the set up, but it DOES WORK!!!!

That is encouraging. I did get mine built but messed up and was out away from a impact to change the deck. I am considering trimming up a deck to expose the end allowing trimming close to objects. Did you get any pictures?

Not surprised at all. I get that a lot from others too. lol
BTW- The price of the nuts for this was almost painful in comparison to the other materials which I had on hand. For others I will be building I will use pipe instead. That or I will be changing to a smoother design that I will provide pics when I so. I figure on sacrificing a deck with a side exposed for trimming up close to brush. That or setting up a front mower with this kinda like a DR.

I like the idea of a deck with a side exposed for trimming up close to brush
And the nuts should have not cost more than 20 cents each,
Anyway put up some pictures when you get it done,
Thank you The Chief

I'm temped to fab up something that would be out in front of the tractor sort of a front mounted Bush Hog but using the big trimmer line. Just what I need a new project to develop.

Chief, Yeah the nuts weren't that bad. just had one of those days of getting my wallet out for everything. I have a set made up and need to try them out. But really looking to do a front mount DR style so I can trim around fences. Been busy but ready to make some cuts to a deck. Figure I will have something worked out for next spring for a front mount.

Interested to see what you come up with. I have thousands of feet of pasture fence to trim now. Using a Husqvarna walk behind trim mower and getting too old to keep that up for very long! I have an old mower that "ran when parked" and has a wallered out sheet metal front axle to fix and tire to replace, but this might be the basis for riding trimmer!

I don't mow rocks, I have to mow over tree roots, burdox bushes ect... But, looks like a great idea.

The ideas are coming fast and furious now.

Here's a thought someone may want to try to take care of the discharge issue.
Cut / remove part of the baffling and open the back of the deck up to allow rear discharge.

Just a thought.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
