The piece of 2x4 between the fenders and battery lid/seat has me curious as to why is it there? Think that 169 needs someone to love it.

Probably tried to stuff a small car battery in there and its to keep the seat pan off of the battery terminals.

Yep. My 126 had the same setup and then holes hacked inside the storage box to let the cables through

Well according to the owner he has decided to keep this one. Seems his JD took a dump and he is going to use the 169.

I have yet to see a 169 in these parts. I don't think a lot of them made it to central NY.
