Default My 100's losing fuel?

I filled the tank up last week, and never ran iut until today. I noticed a little bit of something on the garage floor under it, but it didn't look like nearly a whole tank full. I headed out the driveway and down the gravel towards my gate hole (about 250 yards) to work on a fence, just as I pulled in, tractor died. Tank was bone dry. The tank doesn't look bad, and wasn't wet on the bottom, and the rubber lines look good. The carb is in good working order, and shows no signs of leaks. The black well that bolts onto the bottom of the carb would be the filter? Or would it? If that gasket went bad that may be it. Are there normal leak spots on these that I should check out? I have an inline shut off valve, should I shut it whenever I'm not using the tractor?

I always shut off the fuel when I park my tractors or 4-wheeler for any amount of time. Gas evaporates so fast, it is sometimes hard to tell just how much has actually leaked on to the floor or driveway.

I suppose I'll try that. Thanks.

I would be checking my oil if I were you, if it's over full then you know where the gas went.

"The black well" is the float bowl.

I don't shut all of mine off when not in use, just the ones that lose fuel.

The oil is grey, and does smell like gas a little bit, but it was just a little tiny bit over the full line. I lost a gallon of gas in a week when the tractor never ran, so I'm fairly sure it leaked out somewhere.

If the oil smells like gas, don't run it any more before changing it...it's time to rebuild the carb and check the float level.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
