Default New (to me) 982!

PO says that Onan was replaced, but didn't know at how many hours. There are 3400 on the meter, and the motor runs strong and doesn't throw a lick of smoke (thru the dual exhausts:biggrin2.gif when started. The hydro is quiet as is the lift. No front or rear hyd ports but it does have a rear PTO and steering brakes. Tires are in great condition, but there is a leak in the rear end that I have to tend to. Also came with a 50" deck, which I'm getting tomorrow. What do you think?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there's no rear PTO on there...

I'm ok with you being the bearer, but what is the splined shaft that spins right above the rear end? (Last pic) I'm asking due to my lack of knowledge, no being a smarta$$.

toygirl likes the 1862 better. The seat is adjustable, it has a tilt wheel and power steering. She drove it sitting in front of me, where she can command the 1862 on her own. Thanks for asking!!!!

The splined shaft coming out of the rear is for the optional rear pto kit which is pretty expensive. That's a nice looking 982.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
