129 with Neutral Parts Issue
Well I picked up a 129 with loader. Engine starts right up, no smoke. Loader has new lines and works great. I bought it knowing the brakes were not working. Got home, drove it off the trailer, adjusted brakes and they work perfect but then I had a neutral issue. So went to adjust and found all new issues. I am NOT super knowledgeable with Cubs but have restored A/C B10 and 12 and some David Bradley’s.
So after looking at a ton of schematics it looks like a PO replaced a control rod from the pedal assembly to the cam with a non adjustable rod that fastens with cotter pins that will not stay in place. (I am currently looking online for a used adjustable control rod with clevis end). Also the center pin for the Cam Assembly looks like it is missing a nylon spacer and washer and snap ring to keep it in place (easy parts to get). I have attached a couple pictures. Those with more experience tell me if you see anything else I should be concerned with. I just downloaded user manual but still need to find a service manual. Thanks!

After you get your manual,and its always good practice after buying a tractor is study it and replace the cobble job from the previous owner.Then study and replace worn parts..Then a few for the tool box,points, plug,condensor,gaskets and carb parts.And dont forget that pesky clip down by the carb that goes flying,never to be seen again.Don't ask me how I know

Yep...Still looking
PO did new carb, points, condenser, etc...My next big hurdle is the exhaust elbow. It is not threaded into the block and the lockdown ring has two small spot welds to the block holding it close. about 1/8 gap so its loud!. I will cut the welds with Dremel and chase the threads to see if I can get threaded in. if not I will have to think of something else. then work cosmetics, the fwd/rev lever is a box end wrench welded on...the adventure continues

My thoughts too
Its what it looked like to me also but was not sure. Thanks for the picture it helped allot. I picked up a new bushing, Snap Ring and washer too. I hope to install it all soon but next day off work is the 10th. Rick
