As a note, this repair will require you to readjust the governor, and all the carb settings. Make dang sure you know how to do this, and complete all adjustments before running it again. The governor is going to be pretty far out of adjustment. Better find a manual for the engine.
Maybe take it to a repair shop and have them do it...Better be safe than sorry.

Just wanted to let you know that I have not found that carb yet so I'm not sure if I kept it or not. I'll have to do some more looking.

I think you should just buy that new carburetor if you want this thing to run good for a long time. That or consider putting a K241 in it instead. Honestly, you could probably buy a running used K241 for the cost of that Briggs carb.

Well, that will help, but the shaft is very worn. I can see that in the pic. Needs a new shaft and maybe a bushing in the carb. Fixing what you did will help, but it still won't be right. Don't forget to adjust the governor. Also, the throttle plate goes in one way. Make sure you put it in correctly. The outer edge is tapered.

Got a new carb. But the engine still runs away. I believe it to be a Governor issue. Pulled crank case and inspected gov. All seems to be okay. Got the engine to idle but the slightest adjustment make it run away. inspecting the control panel for the gov this week.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
