Default Alternator upgrade?

Anyone ever upgrade the stock alternator on a 1782?

Nope but what is the reason you want higher output?
Is yours not working?

the charging system is a mess on this 1782. I got it running and have a new hi-torque starter to install because it cranked real slow even with new 600cca battery.Figured I would see about charging upgrade before I even begin to mess around with what's there.

Upgrading the Alternator won't straighten that wiring mess out.

I know that and have the schematic you gave me to help me along.
I thought my question was a simple one,"are there any alternator upgrades that are available"
I've seen that owners have done away with much of this electrical spaghetti. I already have the hi-torque starter to install, I will install Sunpro gauges to monitor temp, oil, volts. Figured others had modded the charging system, that's all.

The 1782 used the KB-15531-64017 alternator. It was rated for 12 Volts at 14 Amps.

Upgrading the Alternator to a higher amperage means, you will need to upgrade the V/R and the wiring to match the higher amperage.

The OEM dynamo is adequate unless you're adding additional load.

I think........You have other problems than really needing the upgrade. The upgrade probably won't perform desirably since you still have those other problems that interfere with the proper operation with the original. Once the other problems have been remedied, then the need for upgrade will be come undesirable.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
