On all occasions I take Georges advice to the bank, but put the fishing rod
away? Nothing could make me do that.

This seems like an excellent time to revisit the standard mechanical truism #5, namely:

"If you repeatedly force a machine to do things beyond its design capability, they will break".

(Breaking the axle beam is not something seen every day. The last time I saw this posted here was from a previous ((who shall not be spoken of because he's in jail among other things)) son crashed his into something and snapped the axle beam)

^^^ Yes. Machinery never does dumb things; only operators.

Well, USUALLY that's the truth.

Machinery generally just keeps on being a machine.

We're the ones that decide to make a machine go faster, lift more, tolerate off road use, higher G forces, turn faster, etc etc etc....till we inevitably find the Next Thing That Breaks.

With your excellent fab skills, maybe a tube front axle with a transverse leafspring and wishbones?

Haha, sounds like a fun project! The tube axle is a maybe this winter, but the rest is out. For now I'm still waiting on the one from flea-bay. I forgot the sled dogs can't run now the snow is almost gone, so its voyageur canoe all the way. Too bad its all up river.

This one won't have the deep V grooves wore into it from many years of tiller belts flopping around.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
