Default Belts for 124

Hello All,

While mowing today I broke a deck belt on my 48 inch 482U111, which is mounted on the 124. I couldn't get the Cub Parts via Diagram lookup to come up on the ole computer for some reason. Looking in the technical section on here, I was able to determine that the proper belts are, Drive Belt: IH-473462-R4 and the Deck Belt: IH-481099-R2. I am just looking for some confirmation that those are correct
as I get a little lost sometimes in all these numbers.

Also if someone knows of a good way to cross reference those to some other brands I would welcome the advice. Just in case the Cub Belts are bit out of the budget.

Thanks,

Ken

I think that 481099 is for a pin on deck on the 1X2 and 70/100. IH-489399-R1 Is for the 124.

In going to the CPE-2 Parts Catalog, I come up with 124 (w/QA) and a 482U deck:
IH-489399-R1 Spindle (deck) Belt
IH-489397-R3 PTO (drive) Belt

Thanks guys, good thing I asked eh? I surely get lost in all these numbers
for parts. I so miss the days when I could walk into a mower shop, tell
them what I needed and get good help. Sure am grateful for the help here.

I agree on the spindle belt,
however I think the pto belt could be either 490489-R2 or 489397-R3 depending on ??. Best to measure old belts.

The broken belt measures 3/8 x 79 which doesn't match up with the
chart. Am thinking that maybe the one that broke was the wrong one
to begin with. I got quite a few hours out of it but it was on the deck when
I bought it.

I agree. I was just trying to add to the confusion.

Managed to find a IH-489399-R1 locally ( only 2 hrs round trip) .
It was 1/2x80. Fit perfectly and I am back to mowing with it. I get
nervous when I only have one mower going. Thanks to your help I am
back in 2 mowers. Obviously the one on the deck when I bought it was'
not even close to the right one.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
