You're in for quite a project if you don't go with a K series Kohler with a starter generator hanging on the side. I don't think you'd find anyone here who would say go for it. I don't know where you are at in PA, but this might be a good place to start with your project:

Other than that you'd be better off finding a parts machine that has an engine.

That is a hell of a deal, unfortunately it's 200 miles away and there's no starter generator or carburetor hanging off of it. I'm near Pittsburgh.

Cmon. Where’s your sense of adventure? I went to somerset to pick up a similar deal a while back from Harrisburg.

I did drive almost to Erie to pick up the tractor... hmmm. I suppose I could check craigslist after Christmas...

Your in about the same situation I am with everything. Need an engine for my little burns but can't find nothing close enough.

I'm looking for something small, horizontal shaft. Like a k181 or 8 hp. Also looking for a magnum twin horizontal to swap into something.

I have 2 good snowblowers with 5hp Tecumseh horizontal shaft motors if you'd want to trade stuff for one of 'em.

I'm looking for a horizontal shaft. A vertical won't work as the tractor is belt driven. I would be able to just use a gearbox but the layout of the front end is too crowded for that.
