Default 2001 3240 value

I have located a very nice 2001 - has equipment I am looking for- hydrostatic, power lift and steering, Kohler- low hours- 300? But because if is a 40th anniversary model the guys is asking what I think is a premium price for a nearly 20 year old tractor Asking $1800. I guess I can sell my GT 3200 to help with cost. Just looking for a GT to mow 1/2 acre-
What do you think? thanks

Hello and welcome. Lets start with this.. Anniversary model means very little. More important is the condition it is in. Pictures would help a whole lot in answering your question. $1800 is not unheard of for that model but for me, It would need to be really really nice to consider spending anywhere near that.
For $1800 I bet I could find a real nice smoker AKA Diesel cub.

I don't understand your statement of selling your GT 3200 to buy a 3240. They are essentially the same tractor. The price of $1800 is the top of the market here in Pa. 300 hrs is low hours for the tractor but it would have to be in mint condition for that asking price.

300 hours for a 19 year old tractor is a little suspicious as well. That equals to just under 16 hours a year.

I agree with ejl6658. There is not much difference in the two machines. Most decals are NLA for the 3240 and so are the standard hub caps. What is wrong with your GT3200? What deck or other equipment comes with the 3240?

I completely redid this 3240, put on a set of reproduction decals, completely redid the deck down to bare metal and repainted with PPG paint and found a set of used 3240 hub caps on Ebay. I sold it after I completed it for $1800 on CL. The first guy that looked at it bought it. I probably would have kept it but it had over 1500 hours on the meter. I paid $600 or $700 for it, put probably another $400-$500 in it and a bunch of time. I'd like to find another someday.

I think this may be the one he is looking at.

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...1784787994169/

The 300 hours could be legit but I would want to hear a good reason why. IE I have a 3235 with a 48" deck that i use for cutting around flower beds and tight areas where my GT3200 with a 60" deck can't get. I cut the major of my acreage with the 60" deck and probably 15 min of use each cutting with the 48" deck. I would take a compression gauge and look for around 140 out of each cylinder for compression as an attempt to legitimize the 300 hours.

After seeing those photos, 300 hours seems about right. For all we know the guy has a half acre that he cuts in 30 min. That's only 2 hours per month in season. Assuming he cuts from April to Oct or 7 months. 14 hours a year X 20 is 280 hours.

It is indeed a beauty. Just not sure I would spend that much. Maybe I would if i was only going to have one tractor. But that idea went bye bye a long time ago lol

Beautiful machine with what looks like perfect paint and low hours.......

Why is the serial tag missing on the frame?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
