Default 1864 followed me home

I need to stop searching craigslist for deals. This summer has gotten a bit out of hand as far as garage space goes

I picked up my first Cyclops this evening, price seemed right.

What i know so far:

Starts and runs great. Seems to accelerate really fast, tight smooth turning radius. 135psi of compression in each cylinder. Snowblower in great shape, a blade that appears to have been adapted to fit.

Known Issues
-Missing tin around Muffler; starting to melt plastic by hood hinge
-Hydro leak from rear, I will need to take the wheel pan to see whats going on there
-A bit jerky on the hydro control

I'll hopefully get around to looking into it a bit this week but i don't think ill get to address the rear leak till later this year so it will sit for now.

The second picture is a picture is an IH/Cub Cadet Trailer, pretty interesting I've never seen one, he said he has paperwork to go with it. Pretty cool, tilts to load a tractor on it, pretty low profile too. I did not buy this, just posting a pic to share.

Questions to follow after i do a bit of research

Nice find on the 1864! Great tractors!

The trailer may be a #5 . the fenders don't look quite right though.... can't tell from the pics... they are pretty hard to find.. did you see a ID plate on it?

Thanks! I didn’t get too good of look at the trailer unfortunately, didn’t see a tab but wasn’t looking hard.

The angle of the photo makes the snowblower look as big as the tractor!
Nice find!

Thanks all! The snowblower does seems huge compared to my 42 inch single stage one. When I bought it we just loaded the blower on the trailer by hand and then i was given the lift rod. Upon getting home and needed to now remove the snowblower from the trailer (by myself) I was hoping to utilize the tractors hydraulic lift to help me.

Can someone confirm this is the lift bracket for the push blade and not the snowblower. I see on extremes site that they sell both or even a combo one. But I'm not sure how it works. That is unless the snowblower lift rod is attached under the footwell?

Congrats on the 1864! Don’t blow a head gasket! Advance the throttle to wide open when you shut it off hot or it will backfire!

The pic you posted of the lift arm above the floor board is for the blade.
Your snowblower s/b a 451. A manual can be found online. It attaches under the floor board to lift the blower. The combo unit X-Treme sells is what you need if you don’t have a lift arm for the blower.

You mentioned a jerky hydro. Follow Sam’s advice on changing fluid and filter.

If everything is working correctly, that is not true. Biggest reason for the backfire is a non working fuel solenoid, or shutting the engine off when it's too hot. Simple fixes really.

Yes, that is the lift rod for a blade. Get an xtreme one that does both.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
