Default Cub Cadet 73
Just finished cutting 3 acres thought I would post a pic or 2.

Cub Cadet 73 with a rebuilt:

K341 (16hp)

Creeper Gear

42" deck

Been cutting with it this summer after the winter rebuild.
Running like a champ. Boy, what a difference in my CC71 with the K161.
This thing will not bog down at all...just keeps on chugging along.

Thanks to all on OCC. This was my first ever rebuild and I came here often for info on these awesome tractors.

I used rustoleum bed liner, after stripping to bare metal. Was really trying to prevent rust for a few years. It actually worked well on the deck as well. On the deck, underside, I used rustoleum Rust Converter...then heavy coat of bed liner. Some were concerned that grass would stick because of the coarse finish of the bed liner. I have not had an issue at all. The grass discharge is actually very good.I will admit that i did did cut and weld new baffles for the deck that turned out well.

I can’t remember if this was asked before. Did you use the k301 blower housing and flywheel to make the 16 fit?

Yes, sir.
K301 blower housing and flywheel.
Cleaned up the head and fins real well for cooling.
I use an air compressor to keep it cleaned up after a day of work.
Synthetic oil....no cooling issues at all.

Glad to see that this project is working out well for you. You built it to be a worker and it sounds like it is. Just wondering if you wear ear muff's or plugs when mowing? That big 16 has to be pretty loud when under load with the straight pipe.

Yes sir, I do wear ear plugs. The K341 does have quite a bark. Need to save that hearing.
