Default Cub Cadet 882 diesel won’t move

Just picked up an 882 today and got it running, I drove it probably half a mile and it would make some scraping sounds and stop moving, to me it almost sounded like the clutches slipping in the little centrifugal clutch pack between the shaft from the motor and the hydro pump. But anyway I was able to get it back to the barn and I shut it off. Maybe an hour later I went back out and I have no hydraulic lift and no drive, none of the roll pins are snapped in the hydro pump drive shaft and the pump is not making any funny sounds. Could the relief valves have been chattering and now they are stuck open? Or is my pump junk, anybody have any ideas? It is full of oil btw.

Check the spirol pin on the hydro input shaft.
They fail about once a year.
Those smokers really beat the crap out of those pins.

It’s somewhat loose but it’s still holding, I can see the pump shaft spinning and it doesn’t stop when I move the drive lever or lift lever.

If the pins are all good, I would start by changing the hydro fluid and filter. I had a similar issue with a 149, and that fixed it. The filter was blocked.

If it is loose now, change it now as it will fail soon.
Be sure and use the proper spirol pin for tight fit.
DO NOT use a bolt!!
You will wreck the driveshaft as well as the couplers.
And while you are at it, check the flex discs for loosenes and deformation that will lead to even more vibration and wear.

Bc
Changed the oil today and it’s driving with no issues! The old oil had a very little bit of water mixed in but I honestly thought it should’ve been able to run on it. Filter must have been plugged with sludge. Thanks for the heads up about the spiral pins, I’ll keep an eye on those

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
