Cub Cadet Model 3225
Hello, new to the forums. I am searching for a lawnmower, for a property that I will be adding to mine which will give me about 1.25 of mowing area. I came across a Cub Cadet Model 3225 that is for sale and not knowing anything about lawn mowers I would like some help on weather or not this would fit my needs and/or be worth purchasing. It would be mainly used for mowing grass but could also be used for the occasional minor winter snow removal of 2.5 car spaces.
The information I have on the machine is that it is a Cub Cadet Model 3225 with a 48 inch mower deck, as well as an attachable snow blower. It has 539hrs of run time. The current owner is asking $1500 for everything. Like I said at the top I do not know anything about lawn tractors and with my budget being $2000 max I figured it made more sense to purchase preowned rather than new, with the caveat of not knowing how the previous owner maintaned it Attached images below (hopefully). output (1).jpg output (2).jpg output.jpg |

looks good , price isn't bad , couple things to look for rear axle outer bearings are packed with grease when new usually need repacked around 500 - 600hrs. or if they go dry they tear up the axles and sometimes the planetary gears . I've redone 2 that had around 600 hrs. and they each had 1 axle grooved about 1/4" deep and the inner housing and gears were torn up and the tractor wouldn't drive any more...the diff. lock gets tore up sometimes , if someone steps on the pedal when spinning 1 tire ,

Are parts readily available for this model? While I do not know anything about lawn tractors the industry I do work in one of the big factories in determining weather or not something is a good buy expecially when used is weather or not parts are readily available if needed.

Frank, that post is a little over 3 years old and the OP hasn't been logged on since 2020 so I doubt he will reply......but I will
I have several 3000 series machines and they are great but do have their issues just like any other model. They will mow better than any previous model Cub Cadet but I wouldn't pull a plow with one although you could. Are you looking at a 3225?

Hi,, I actually passed on one and I am regretting not buying it. It had the plow and deck but the engine was caked with oil and sludge on the cooling fins and I figured that could not have been good for the engine. It also had a hydro leak but I have read that is a common problem. Had 700hrs on it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
