Ken,
Thank you for the reply. I looked at the parts manual and it was not clear how it is mounted.

Thank you too Roland.

Just to update everyone on my adventure. I been lazy and have not worked on the 109. It is about 20 miles away in an unheated building. Because of the cold temperatures (and being lazy) I have not done anything with it.

In the interim I decided to look for another gas tank. I bought one on fleabay and plan to install it. It had some varnish inside and I used lacquer thinner to clean the inside. I have assembled the needed parts (shutoff valve, filter, and fuel line) and ready to act once the temperature moderates (and I get motivated). Stay tuned.

On Wednesday I removed the hydro relief valves. Sending them to Machtech Direct today (Thursday) for rebuild.

After two (2) months I finally got around to working on the 109. I reinstalled the refurbished hydro relief valves. Also installed a used fuel tank, new shutoff valve, and plumbed new fuel line with new inline fuel filter. Connected the new U1 battery and put some fuel in the tank. Cranked for a few revs and it started. Adjusted the carb settings and it runs decent. Need to do some fine tuning on the carb. That is the extent of today's work. I need to move "stuff" in front of the tractor so I can drive it into an open area. At least it runs now I can concentrate on moving it and locating the attachments (mower deck, front blade, and tiller). Getting late to try and sell it but it is what it is.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
