I own 5 welders, and I didn't buy any of them new. Don't be afraid to purchased a used machine. But, if you buy it from an individual, you might want to test it, or at least see it work, before buying. You can get good deals on used stuff. If you have a Snap-On guy near you, see if he has any trade-ins. Two of mine I got off my Snap-On dealer for steals because he wanted them out of storage.

The question was...."What do you guys & gals think about them?"

I think you better stay away from those welders unless you want to be the guinea pig! Chinese can do very good stuff and very bad stuff too, all big name in the welding supply industries do business with them so it's all depend of the engineer/cost agenda they have to follow for HF.

That said ...We have share our preferences in the past with you Todd and my understanding is you don't want to spend to much on something you don't use every day and I totally agree with that but do yourself a favor....Don't buy a brand who don't offer at least a 3 years warranty.

Blue, white, red and yellow are what I have in mind but it's your money so please yourself....Oups sorry! Buy yourself happiness.

I have a couple of Lincoln stick welders, oxy/acety outfit, Lincoln Mig w/gas. I wanted another Mig to use at my other location, just for emergency use.

I bought a HF mig. About $120. The wire feed kept jamming so I bought another spool of wire. It jammed as well. Next garbage pickup day, the HF mig was on the curb for pick up. Only cost me about $150 total for lesson learned.

I could tell you something about their generators too but this is a welder thread.

Mike don't panic yet, this is a know problem on those cheap HF Mig, some guys came with solution but don't expect that machine to weld like your Lincoln but they are good enough for a quick fix (Read Emergency repair)

There is a HF section on WW I suggest you do some research there first and after you spend few box to fix it, drop that POS on CL

I love my Hobart 210mvp. Had it for 6 years now. Hate my Hobart 135. I will never buy a 120 volt welder ever again.

Excellent transformer machine pretty similar to my Millermatic 211 the only difference between the two is the Miller has "infinite" voltage setting and Hobart has a "stepped" voltage setting but on both duty cycle are the same.

I agree with Sam.....Myself I like Millers because they run smooth, if you like a more aggressive machine, Lincoln would be a good choice.

I've read online that they hired a Lincoln engineer away to design there welders. Who knows if that is true, but I did look at them in store and the fit and finish seems pretty good.

That doesn't mean they will last, but I have a 150 amp chicago electric welder from the early ninety's thats still kicking. I have ran 2 large spools of wire through it in the last 25 years and it welds pretty well. Just not for long periods of time.

I think I may be willing to try the new line out. Around here, people want new money for there old welders.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
