1806 issues
I had some time this morning so I spent it checking out the 1806 I picked up. It has two major issues, one moreso than the other. The left cylinder has no compression and the clutch, although it works, has something not right about it. I'm hoping the lack of compression is, fingers crossed, just a stuck valve, I'm just not sure how I want to attack it.
Is a stuck valve from sitting too long common with these Magnums? Easy to free up or a major problem? Any and all suggestions welcome.

You can pull the breather covers off to see if the valves are moving. I had a M20 with a stuck valve and was able to free it from there.

I determined the piston was moving so I shined a superbright LED beam down the spark plug hole and saw the exhaust valve was not moving. I gently inserted a wideblade screwdriver in the hole and with the blade between the valve and the head I twisted the blade gently putting pressure on the valve. I heard the valve spring back so I checked with the light and it had seated. I ran a compression test and now had compression on both sides. I replaced the spark plugs and started it up. Runs smooth now.
Next issue, the driveshaft and clutch.

Hopefully with regular use, this issue will not return. A tight guide, or weak spring can cause this. Glad it's working well again.

Hmmm, I think I found the clutch problem. You don't think the bolts instead of pins, the bent plate, the broken discs, the wornout pivot pin, and the off-center throwout bearing might have anything to do with it?
