Default Cub 149

Have a Cub 149 with 44a deck and 54'' blade. Original motor is out of tractor because it started using some oil and slight knock at low rpm so put a spare 14hp in. Motor I put in uses no oil and quiet. Just curious what you think it is worth. Previous owner painted it as you can see on the rear right over the IH sticker. Rear tires are like new and chains were used twice this winter. Got a gt2550 given to me so don't have a need for this. Thanks

I keep getting an error when trying to add pictures so lets see if this link works.

I clicked on the link, saw one picture of a cub cadet 149 from the front view and then the next slide displayed Scooby Doo after his transformation for the 60's.

Well not really sure what it’s worth. I think overall the tractor is in great shape. Everything works as it should. I see some go for $3-400 that are rough and some go for $8-1000 in great shape. That’s why I asked. Just trying to get a feel.

Around the KC area, I would expect to see that priced at $700 or above for the tractor/mower deck. Add in the 54" blade (which is hard to find) and it might be priced in that upper bracket you mentioned.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
