How do you guys Work on Engines Out of the Tractor??
Just curious how You guys work on the Koehler engines when they have been removed from the tractor. I am wanting to do as much as I can to the engine.....replace worn and broken parts, tune up parts, and disassemble for paint. I have a work table to sit it on but I feel like it will just be a heavy brink rolling around on the table.

I built an engine stand that bolts to my work bench. It has a 1” diameter stub welded to a plate that bolts to the block where the starter attaches. It slides into a tube on the bench. It pivots and locks in place every 90 degrees.

Some time you have no choice but to work on them rolling around on the bench. Depends on what all you are trying to do to the engine. I have rebuilt more than a few that way, not a big deal especially as the parts start coming off

Toss it up on a sufficient work bench and go at it.

Looks good!! Yeah I’m planning on disassembling and painting it piece by piece with the main engine intact. Painting the tins and other parts separate. Also going to remove and clean head and replace head gasket amongst the typical tube up stuff. I just wanted to know how you all did it because I figured you’d have a good useful way to get it done without it sitting loosely on a table. That is a good idea to build a rotating stand to bolt to the work bench.

I bought a wooden bar stool and set the engine on that.
for when I'm working on a vertical shaft motor I drilled a 2" hole in the center of it. I recently bought a tool cart from HFT that I'm going to put a piece of plywood to the top and use for an engine stand I mostly am doing this to make it easier to move around (wheels) and the cart is 2'x3' where the stool is only about 18" circle. I put the top tray on upside down so I wont be working in a hole

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
