Pressing the top of the pedal goes forward, pressing the bottom goes backward. With the current linkage positions, It is set so I can comfortably rock the pedal all the way forward. The pedal is flat and it takes a lot of ankle bend to get full reverse (not sure you really need that). I am waiting for better weather to play with it, I think I am going to put some sort of a block for my heel to press on when I want to reverse. I did have the 1250 out in the snow yesterday. Wish I had video. I had the rear end sliding out enough to steer with the slide

might look into a foot control from a tractor that actually was from the factory. I think most of them were a U shape to facilitate reverse.

Does yours return to center when you let off, or what happens?

Been wanting to do this before I put the FEL on the cub. too many levers.

Want to fab another set of brackets? cost?

The foot pedal does not return to center when you let off, you have to press the brake pedal and that will return it to center. With everything lubed the brake has way more leverage than the new pedal and easily moves your foot to center, even if you don't lift it. I was looking at it and figured a strong spring pulling the new lever straight up would probably get it back to center (or most the way) but I don't think I am going to bother.
Sorry I fabricate this stuff largely by hand and the machining I do is on borrowed time, so I am not in a position to fab them for sale

Default Cub 129 foot pedal speed control - new pics

Here's a few pics of the foot pedal speed control mod on this 129 (all shiny). It has hydro lift, so there was a little less room. It still went in about the same as the 129 with manual control, but the lever on the rod going to the pedal had to be a little shorter. The picture onthe left is shot from the engine area the pic on the right is from the seat area

I want one on my 149. Could you post pics of the foot control (right) side? I had already been thinking of this mod, and then I saw yours. Made it look simple to fab.
Thanks,

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
