Neat little contraption..... THE STICKLER wood splitter
Neat little contraption..... THE STICKLER wood splitter. Does anyone use this thing? "The Stickler In Action" video make it look like child's play.
http://www.thestickler.com/ I could see me making a splitting setup using this, powered by my Cub 123. I could use the 90* drive that runs the #1 tiller. Hmmmmmmm. That gets me thinking....!!

I have one that goes on the PTO of a tractor. It works well, but makes lots of splintery wood. Really good for odd pieces that you wouldn't normally be able to split in a regular splitter (forked/knotty pieces). Kinda dangerous, it will kill the engine on my Ferguson TE35 at 1/2 throttle if you get something extra tough on it.

where and how much?
OK I'll bite;
So the one that goes on the tractor PTO, where did you buy it and what did it cost? I might have to have one myself, since I have an H Farmall that doesn't have enough to do. Cadet Farmer |

cadetfarmer, I'm not going to be much/any help to you. I bought it from a guy that works with my Brother, who bought it from someone else. It didn't look like anyone had ever used it before I got it. I can't tell you where it was originally bought and I've never seen one in a store.
I paid either $120.00 or $125.00, I can't remember. Once again, it works really well... But, I think, it's dangerous as "heck". I also had to "beef up" the "stop" on the bottom, as I broke it off a couple of times. If I can find them I'll post some pictures of it mounted on the tractor.

Here you go... I replaced the round pipe on the bottom with 2 X 2 thick wall square tubing and added a brace at an angle about half way out then back to the left side of the lower bar. I also replaced the thin strap from the center of the main body to where it bolts just under the upper link with the same 2 X 2 tubing. I haven't broken anything since.

I have seen a picture of one of these on a Cub Cadet rear axle. It was on either this forum or on the IH Cub Cadet forum. I don't recall what was said about it. Not even sure it was the same manufacturer as the ad link. I have been wondering about where to find one. Thanks for the link.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
