Default 126 12hp kohler k301

I rebuilt carb put on a muffler from rural king its a stack style cleaned out intire fuel system new points and condenser if i turn on the mower deck it al most dies has no power at all and when i shut it off smoke comes out of carb and inside of muffler is cherry red could it be valves or any info would help out dont have a book and no one around here sells them and wont let me download the one from here cause i use my phone on here only way i can get online any how help please grass is geting out of control about to lose my temper on the ol girl

Sounds like the incorrect muffler is restricting it.

Ok that would turn them cherry red inside and cut down on power can i use a screw in type of muffler and make it act like it not getting full throttle

The question is why is the muffler gettng so hot no need in being upset or mean im trying to understand this stupid thing with no real info from my area i dont understand how a muffler could restrict it that much its louder then heck would drilling hiles in it help or do i need to check valves im just trying to ask i have read threw older post and there not real coherent either

Ok, here's the deal. The muffler could be the problem, or it could be really lean.

Here's the questions:

*What do you mean a "stack style" muffler?
*Was it acting up before installing the muffler?
*When you put new points in did you time it?
*What points did you use? Kohler? Or other?
*What do you mean by "cleaned out entire fuel system"? Did you disassemble the carb? Or just flush the tank?

Could be lean, timing off, restricted exhaust, or all the above.

I took carb apart and cleaned used new float needle and seat took off tank and cleaned out bought new sediment bowl and installed bought kohler points and installed set points at 15 has been running good till old original muffler blew apart so used one inch pipe nipple 7 inches long a 90 degree elbow and a 3 inch nipple to mount international harvester muffler on it its round and grey about 10 inch long canister and says alumidized on it

Aluminized is referring the coating on the muffler to keep it from rusting. That was unimportant.

Sound like it's lean. Or you could have a restricted exhaust. Take the muffler off and see if it will rev up. If not, pull the carb.

Your point setting is also incorrect. Go find a PC and read how to properly set the points. The timing will be off. Didn't blow the head gasket did you? How about bolt the carb on tight? It might be sucking air around the base. Did you use a new gasket? Did you disconnect the throttle cable from the linkage for any reason?

Carb gaskit was the old one that was on it ill check points . I was wondering about head gasket i will check it all out and let u know thank you for your help

Like I said, pull the muffler.

Replace the carb gasket. That may be the cause.

I don't want you to check the points, I want you to check the timing.
