Default Need Help - Intek Vtwin 20hp

I have an Intek running on one cylinder. So far I have checked, swapped, replaced plugs. Then I swapped out the coil on the bad cylinder with another good one and swapped them side to side. And, they both have good sparked. I adjusted the valves. The cylinder is noticeably cooler to the touch after running for a little while so I am suspecting it is a fuel issue. I disconnected the coils and cranked the engine over for a little while with the choke on to soak the plugs. The bad side plug does not seem to be as wet as the good side. So I am thinking maybe it has something to do with the carb. However, I don't have any experience with the newer double barrel carbs. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers.

Dumb question: Do both cylinders have compression?

I do not have a compression tester. However, wouldn't a dry plug suggest a fuel issue?

If you have broken rings, I would think the cylinder would not create a vacuum, could not suck in fuel/air mix, therefore no wet plug!!

Thanks...I know these Intek's are 'crap' but this one only has 550 hrs and thought maybe there might be some inherent problems that I should be looking at first. I'll have to pick up a compression tester and go from there. I think this carb shares one jet so I'm beginning to lean towards a compression issue now rather than one half of the carb being gummed up or something simple.

I removed the 'W' shaped inspection cover to find a small piece of grass blocking a rectangular shaped port. Problem solved.

Just in case you have more problems I had the same problem on a 24 HP INTEK, the intake valve had a coating of gunk, and the push rod also, so it stuck causing the exact same problem you explained.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
