cub original rear end
i have 2 questions- 1: are the rear end supposed to lock up on the cub original- only my right side spins. 2: on the left side axle tube on the rear, it is starting to leak rear end fluid out of what looks like a weep hole on the bottom. didnt know how to fix it, or if anybody has had the same problem with theirs.

No, they are not a locked rear end.
As far as the leak goes, it sounds like the seal is out.. You might also want to check your axle bushing to see if they are not slopped out enough to cause the axle to "pry" on the seal to cause it to leak.

I think the Original uses 7 pints, not 7 quarts...the hydros use 7 quarts.
This is in your owner's manual, BTW... |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
