1610 hydro oil change
If someone could help me locate the hydro oil drain plug on a 1610 that would be very helpful. I can't seem to locate it. the manual says there is a hex drain plug on the bottom of the housing but I can't locate it. Also would 80w gear oil be sufficient in the rear?

ok checked the parts diagram and the drain should be on the bottom of the unit and it is not there. Would there be another place for draining the hytran fluid? maybe the front dump valve? but it is halfway up the unit. The fluid is a non-translucent milky brown color and it pushes out the breather hole in the cap when in use.

Well, I drained and added new rear end oil (which wasn't very easy without the right funnel). I also drained the hydro pump with a gas siphon hand pump since there wasn't any drain plug and added new which takes forever. It definitely made a difference. A new drive belt and I'll be off to mowing.
