I put a relay in for the glowplugs, so it gets 12volts right off the battery instead of the 9 it was getting. lights right off now.

Wolverine makes adhesive heater pads that stick to the oil pan and plug in. Couldn't be easier to install. I have them on my boat's engines (slightly larger than your engine.)

I'd check the voltage going to your glowplugs. I would think when pretty cold, after 60 seconds, it would atleast attempt to fire and go. Todd's idea on the starter would prolly help out tons as well.

On that starter, did you have to modify the motor mount by drilling a hole for the positive post?

Josh, yes I had to use a hole saw and cut the hole. I hate doing that but I had no choice. I followed Todd M's guide. I wish someone would make a starter that would just bolt in place.

Just as a side note: I have never seen a glow plug that wouldn't swell the tip at a 60 second cycle time repeatedly. WAY too long if you ask me. If they are getting 12V, 15 seconds MAX should be plenty. If you have ever battery tested one, they start glowing within seconds.

Hey Todd, what is the workaround for the glow plug indicator light?

a ford starter solenoid hooked to battery and other end to glo plugs use the original wire to glo plugs to trigger the solenoid it dont exactly bypass the dash indicator but it puts 12 volts to the glo plugs... make sense?
