Default lt1050 drive belt

OK, helping out someone in need---they got hurt in a car wreck and lawnmower quit working while family was trying to keep the grass cut. If any of you know, can the hydrostatic drive belt on a LT1050 be changed by just dropping the PTO clutch? How about the back end, assume it lifts up over the fan. Just trying to see how big of a job I have before me. Also, is the transmission serviceable as in filter and oil change, or is this a sealed unit?

With the deck removed and the PTO dropped down you can work the belt up and around the fan onto the hydro pulley from underneath. It will be much easier if you can lift the tractor to where you can get underneath it.

On the transmission, I think it is a Hydro Gear 0510 and therefore not serviceable, but look at the tag on the housing and if it's something else here is a link to their manuals.

Thanks! just wanted to make sure I didn't have to pull the engine. Hopefully PTO will slip right off.

if the PTO doesn't slide right off there is a hole in the frame you can stick a long punch or similar that gets you close to the shaft, a couple taps on the punch and it'll drop right off
I saw it on a youtube video just search for "lt1050 pto"

put some antisieze on the shaft and next time it'll be even easier

rest of the job was a breeze

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
