I picked up an 1811 last weekend
I picked this guy up to join my Clan of Cubs. I have my dad's 1811 (850hrs on the meter) that he purchased new around 1989. Saw this one and had to have it.
the Good It runs good but has a few issues. (No smoke when starting, no funny sounds or engine knocks) Drives good in forward and reverse, steers as good as my dads and the lift works as it should. the Bad The switch or solenoid needs to be replaced. The spring that returns the brake pedal is weak. needs an original grill it has a makeshift grill that detracts from it the deck is in good shape but the spindles seem NOISY maybe a bit of grease will help? Plans call for ag tires and tri ribs up front this guy will plow disk etc alongside Dad's 1811 They will leave the lawn mowing to the LGT1054 I snapped a few pics to prove it exists. |

That's an interesting 3 point/sleeve hitch setup on there.
The 782/1811/1812 is the most iconic of the later cub cadets, IMO. Great great tractors.

Good to see you have a 1811, but I thought all IH cub cadets were the best they ever made....

Thanks all for the kind words.
Gotta agree I like this line of Cubs. I didn't mention them but i do have an IH 782 with the Series 1 engine with a fuel or ignition problem (but has the sleeve hitch on it), another 782 with a Series II engine that i rescued from being parted out that needs some attention, a rolling frame 782 frame with the sleeve hitch on it too, and a 682 that had the original motor replaced with an Onan 18hp engine that needs rebuilding. LOTS of projects for the spring. Definitely like this line of Cubs. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
