The tractor is now at its new home in Ojai CA. Rebuilt carb, cleaned tank, new sediment bowl, new battery, new muffler, new wheel bearings, new oils/grease, and now runs just like new! I'm very happy and owe thanks to this forum and those here that have given me good advice.

Default Also in SoCal

Hello akear and All,

I am also in SoCal, in the Antelope Valley High Desert about an hour north of L.A. I bought a 782D equipped with the 50c mower deck couple years ago and had it shipped out from back east. Upon taking delivery I was pleased to find that the engine started right up with no smoke and ran and sounded fine. However there was a terrible vibration at all rpms beneath wot.

I removed the cover and noticed that the rag joints on driveshaft were worn and there was much play in the shaft. After doing some searching on this forum I discovered that member "Jeff in pa" had done a cv type shaft upgrade to replace the rag joint set up. With guidance from Sam Mac and Jeff I purchased a shaft from a different type tractor incorporating cv joints, shipped it to Jeff who expertly shortened and rewelded it to fit my 782D. It fit perfectly and she runs smooth as silk now throughout the rpm range! The folks here are great!

I am sure that you will find all the information and support here on the forum you may require for helping you keep your (very!) nice 125 alive and well akear!

Kev

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
