Default Bought a house, got a cub!!

Hello all,

My name is Jason. My wife, two young daughters and I just bought a house in East Berlin PA. It has a decent size yard, 1 acre. So I had to buy a cub cadet. At the beginning of my search I knew I wanted something Cyclops and older. My dad has a 1641 and I did really big number of laps around the yard on that thing when I was in high school. So liked the quality and robustness of those tractors. My search kept bringing me back to the 782. So I found a 782 outside of Reading PA and bought it. Little rough around the edges, but came with: 44C, snow blade (IH), snowblower (IH), Brinly single bottom plow, and Brinly cultivator. Also has a sleeve hitch. Another perk of the 782 is that is a true IH, red in color! The previous owner chunked the KT17 and put an 18 horsepower pressurized oil motor with remote oil filter.

Anyway I am looking forward to getting this old girl back into tip top shape. Needs a trunion repair and the neutral adjusted (drove off the trailer with me on it, long story). And a few other things, new seat, steering upgrade, and just general maintenance.

I will try to get a few pictures posted up from my phone.

Looking forward to being part of a cub cadet focused group and learning and getting this tractor into top shape.

Welcome from Jersey!

My Brothers lives just north of York.
Gave him a 107 a couple of years ago and now he's hooked.
Good thing too, his two boys test the robustness of the Cub daily

It looks like something wrong with the front axle, it appears the tractor is sitting weird. It looks like a good cub to start with.

Congrats on your cub! Think it's just how its sitting. It looks like it's sitting on a tree root or a hump .

I don't know about you guys, but I see only one picture.
I see no axle @ all, just the left side of tractor including front/rear tires.
The rear tire looks a little odd as it has many curved lugs.
I would hope the new owner feeds and waters it and don't keep it tied to that tree for long periods of time without exercising it

There is only one pic but it looks the the tire is to far back and up in the air, it could just be the way its sitting or an illusion.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
