New here from North Carolina
New from North Carolina. Last summer I aquired a 1980 IHC model 782 and discovered how awsome these tractors are. I have been lurking here ever since and enjoying all the conversations and soaking up the knowledge. So I decided to join. I usually am not a show off but I like looking at other peoples tractors as much as you all do so I included some pictures. Most of the attachments and accessories were made by me and some are for sale in the "for sale " section of this web site. I look forward to joining in some of the conservations. Steve

The tiller is a 1978 42" wide sears roto spader with a 8HP briggs industrial designed to hitch up to the old sears suburban garden tractors. I found it on a scrap heap at a antique dealer and was in pretty bad condition, the motor, all the leavers and controls, belts and pullies were missing. The sheet metal was badly cracked and dent up beyond repair and the main structural support across the front was cracked in half. It was a complete basket case so naturaly I gave the man $15.00 and took it home. The gear/ chain case is good and works smooth and the tines still have alot of service left. Most of this unit was re-fabricated and scratch built to the cat 0 specs. This tiller has proven to be the most important piece in my implement collection, it is very powerful, rugged and does such an exellent job at tearing up an existing garden I felt it worthy of wearing IH red. The only way it could be better would be to convert it in to a hydraulic motor powered unit plugged into the rear hydraulic ports on the tractor.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
