Typically, the 44 inch decks were 44, 44A, or 44C as the model numbers.

Default 44" deck belt

Seems like all the decks that I have any dealings with have odd ball numbers.
Have a great day.

Model numbers 44, 44A & 44C are not odd ball numbers, and have been around since 1974.

Default 44" deck belt

44 is telling me that it is a 44" deck. It is the rest of the number that seems odd. "44 U-1112". I can't find U-1112 when looking for a belt. Thanks and have a great day.

That is because there is NO such number.

If you went to the Cub Cadet Parts lookup site (Tab at top) plugged in your 149, then selected the "attachments" tab, the 44" deck does appear.

Default 149 deck belt

Help me out here. The tag on my 42" deck reads: 421-U 1113. I know the 42 means it is a 42" deck. What does the 1 mean after the 42? What does the U-1113 mean? So the mule drive belt I need to purchase for the 149 with a 42 inch deck would be one shown for a 42" deck? I need to look no further in the belt chart? Sorry to be so dumb but I am having a hard time with this. Thanks for your patience and have a great day.
Bob

I suspect it means First Generation.

U = Made is USA

1111> and subsequent are the minor variants.

IH used the "U1111" nomenclature from the first mower deck through the end of the 38/42/48 series decks.

Starting with the 44/50 series decks, they used a different factory code that started with "190". Example:
190-357-100 38" Deck
190-358-100 44" Deck
190-359-100 50" Deck
190-360-100 Mule Drive

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
