Since it is blue in color and not a Cub Cadet specified engine, what is this out of...?? The crankshaft looks unusually small in diameter.
From my eyes, I can't make out any of the numbers on the casting.

Its out of a 169, i bought the tractor from the original owners son. You are correct though, not a original engine. It was replaced with a k341 short block, not a cub engine block, the base is wrong. It has k341 cast behind the p.t.o. , ten head bolts too.

That motor is incorrect. Your crankshaft height will be too tall. The angle of the driveshaft will be too steep. You will tear up the joints, and have balance issues because the center support bearing will not be able to take the angle. Your going to have to find the right motor.

That certainly sheds light and answered the questions i had with what the previous owner told me. The story goes he had a dealer perform the engine replacment. Three times. I was curious why the tractor ate three engines. I knew it wasnt exactly correct when i first saw it. I dont mind though, its currently undergoing a complete and fully correct restoration. I love his homemade and perfectly centered rag joint. The poor tractor shook so bad i thought the hood was going to fly off. Sorry for the sideways pics. Im working on the glitch.

if you have the small cub cadet pan on it they are the same crank centerline as with a Cub block. I've converted allot of those blocks to cub blocks

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
