I’m going to need to do something about a seat, I don’t have a seat or bracket. I saw one on eBay for $109. Anyone do any custom seat on these or do I need to make a bracket or something?

More... I wish I had cleaned up that weld on the hood before I painted it. It didn’t look that bad under the primer but the white really made it pop. I think I’ll just have to get used to it. This isn’t gonna be a show piece, it’s gonna be a worker.

Paint is hardened nicely already in my 80 degree garage

I sat some parts together to get a look at it.

And the steering wheel got in on some action. I used JB Weld putty to fill the cracks, sanded smooth, and painted it black.

Thanks. This is my first complete rebuild. Half the work was already done for me. I’ve had an hvlp spray gun sitting and waiting to be used for a couple years, today was the day. I’ve never used a spray gun with paint and reducer and hardener before. After studying the experts on YouTube, I got the confidence to give it a shot. It took me a little to get the hang of it. Definitely different than spraying rattle cans. I did all the undersides and inconspicuous areas first while I messed with the settings to get the hang of it.

I'm slowly getting this put back together. I ran out of time to finish the paint, and since we suddenly live in Siberia, I don't plan on being able to paint until spring at this point. I think the yellow needs another coat. So since I want to use the tractor, I'm putting it together to use it and then in the spring I will take it back apart and sand and put another coat on, and do the engine and transmission detail at that time.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
