Default LT50 hard starting.

I needed to move my cubby from where it was sitting. I checked the oil and gas and tried to start it. My key was left on, probably for a long time and of course the battery died.

I had an extra mower battery, so I used jumper cables between the extra battery on the ground and the installed battery.

I got on and engine started right up. I ran it for about 10 mins hoping to put enough charge back into the battery to allow me to restart without the jumper, so I could move the mower out of my way.

I stopped the engine and disconnected the external battery. Back in the drivers seat, engine would not turn over at all. So, thinking the installed battery had not charged enough, I retried jumpering, but now even with both batteries, engine would not spin. Ok, normal, installed battery had drained the external battery, so I got my 12v hd deep cycle, 675cca spare battery and hooked that up.

Still not starting, but engine did spin half turn, then stop. Hmmm. I wondered if maybe the big battery was down so put it on charger for an hour the retried jumpering it, but this time I removed the black wire from the installed battery first. Still same thing... spin half turn then stop.

Guess I'm a little gun shy, but this is exactly how my engine failure issues began on my first cubby, exact same model. (see another of my posts about it)

So the question is this... engine is running, seems normally. Engine is shut off for a min or so. Now engine fails to restart, with it spinning about half a turn, then quits spinning. Fresh battery.

Anyone else having this issue? Its a Kohler 7000 series engine, about 3 hrs runtime...

Guess Im a little gunshy after all. My 'other' cubby died a horrible death as an infant and the issues leading up to it were just like these with my battery.
In the end, after charging the dead battery for 2 days, putting the battery back in, she started right up. off and on a number of times satisified me there were no other issues other than dead battery, plus low spares as well, compounding my concerns.
All is well on the home front, now.
Thanks, and Merry Christmas!

Do you have a multi-meter? Check the voltages of your problematic battery/batteries.

Sounds to me like a bad connection somewhere.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
